When it comes to clearing lands that are overgrown with brush and understory trees like honeysuckle and buckthorn, the quickest and most eco-friendly way is to use forestry mowing/mulching equipment to literally mow down and mulch those ever-expanding jungles of woody, non-native invasive species right back into the soil surface. The chopped up material then decomposes, putting the nutrients right back into the soil surface. This method avoids hiring an army of people to cut and stack the brush, load it up and haul it away, or having to burn the piles on site. Additionally, this eliminates the need to disturb the top and sub-surface soils from mechanically ripping out unwanted species. This approach also eliminates hauling away or on-site burning of huge spoils of unwanted material.
